-Climate
-Soil
-Water Bodies
-Mineral Resources
Climate:
Climate is as important as terrain in
influencing population. Of all the
climatic factors, twin elements of
rainfall and temperature play the most
important role in determining the
population of an area. Man cannot go
beyond the limits set by climate.
Extremes of climate discourage the
concentration of population. Such
climates include the too cold climate of
Himalayas, and the too hot and dry
climate of the Thar Desert. A moderate
climate, on the other hand, is
favourable for population.
Soil:
Soil is an important factor in
determining the density of population
in an overwhelmingly agricultural
country like India. Fertile soil supports
higher population density while
infertile soil leads to low density. In
the northern plain of India, the soil is
regularly enriched by annual floods of
the great rivers like the Indus, the
Ganga and the Brahmaputra and their
tributaries.
Therefore, this is an area of high
population density. The coastal plains
also have fertile soils and are areas of
high population density.
Water Bodies:
Availability of water plays a
significant role in determining the
population of a given area. Water is
the basic necessity for several purposes
including irrigation, industries,
transport and domestic affairs. Rivers
are the greatest source of fresh potable
water. Therefore, most of the
population is concentrated in the river
valleys.
Mineral Resources:
Minerals act as great source of
attraction for people from different
areas, which results in higher density
of population. The higher population
densities in the Chhota Nagpur Plateau
of Jharkhand and in the adjoining
areas of Orissa are largely due to the
availability of minerals.

people in particular country

a country growing rapidly

Industry
* Fabricated metal industry
*EXPLANATION*
I) Apparel Industry : All establishments
producing clothing and fabricating
products by cutting and sewing
purchased woven or knit textile fabrics
and related materials, such as leather,
rubberized fabrics, plastics, and furs.
This does not include knitting mills
(see Textile Mill Products) or custom
tailors and dressmakers (see Retail
Trade: Apparel and Accessory Stores).
(Definition Source: Standard Industrial
Classification)
ii) Chemical and Allied Industry: All
establishments producing basic
chemicals, and establishments
manufacturing products by
predominantly chemical processes.
This does not include the mining of
natural chemicals and fertilizers (see
Mining and Quarrying of Nonmetallic
Minerals), nor does it include
establishments primarily engaged in
packaging, repackaging and bottling
purchased chemical products (see
Wholesale or Retail Trade). (Definition

Industry: All establishments engaged
in manufacturing machinery,
apparatus, and supplies for the
generation, storage, transmission,
transformation, and utilization of
electrical energy. This does not include
industrial machinery and equipment
powered by built-in or detachable
electric motors (see Industrial and

i) LACK OF CREDIT/ACCESS TO
CREDIT: This
remains the major hindrance to
industrialization in
Africa
ii) OVER DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN
MACHINES :
Most of the technology and machines
used by
local manufacturers in Nigeria are
imported from
other countries.
iii) INADEQUATE RAW MATERIAL: Due
to the poor
state of our agricultural sector. The
amount of raw
materials produced by the sector for
the
manufacturing sector is not enough to
support
massive industrial production.
iv) LACK OF BASIC INFRASTRUCTURES:
This has
always being the major obstacle to
development.
3bii)
Government should make provision of
raw materials and they should get
more technologies and machine for the
manufacturing industry...

i) Lack of education
-some of the citizens don't have enough
education that would tell them the
right number and spacing of their
children. they are not knowledgeable
about the consequences they could
possibly face by having a lot of
children. they also think that if they
have a lot of children, a lot will help
them when they grow old.
ii) Unemployment
-poor families spend more time
together. Usually(based from an
interview I've done), they get bored
and they have nothing to do so they get
into sexual intercourse to kill all the
time they have for each other. they
consider procreation as past time.
iii) Migration :
Migration is another important point
which is responsible for the higher
growth rate of population. Is is seen
that large number of people migrate
from foreign counties to India and
permanently stay here. Although this
factor is not very crucial yet has
increased the population of our
country. These are the most important
factors responsible for the population
explosion in our county.
iv) High Birth Rate (Fertility) :
Birth rate refers to the number of
children taking birth per thousand
people. In 1991the birth rate was 29.9
per thousand. In 2000 the birth rate
was 25.8 per thousand which is very
compound to other counties of the
world. Birth rate is high due to the
following reasons.
v) Poverty :
Poverty is another factor which is
mostly responsible for the rapid
growth of population. India houses are
the museum of poverty. According to
2001 census, nearly 37 per cent of
people live below the poverty line.
Small children in poor families are put
to work and this helps to increase the
family income. Children in poor
families are considered as assets.
