FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi saysno going back on use of speed limiters
Well over 2,800 motorists have been fined by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for ignoring the directive to install speed limiting devices on their vehicles
According to Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), which was quoting the News Agencyof Nigeria, the FRSC has, in just two days ofkicking off the use of speed limiters on October 1, caught thousands of violators.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi saidthat the motorists books were only owners of commercial vehicles and also noted that the speed limitation idea was not to make Nigerians’ life more painful.
“The exercise is also known as free safety checks.
“In the coming days, the leadership of the organised transport unions such as NURTW, NUPENG PTD, NARTO, RTEAN LUBOAN shall be involved in the advisory enforcement by joining FRSC top officers topatrol,”he said.
Boboye advised commercial vehicle operators to get their speed limiter devises and warned that there was no going back on the full enforcement of the law on the use of the devices come January 2017.
Meanwhile, the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) haspraised Corps Marshall Boboye among other federal government appointeesfor declaring their assets.
“CCB however, commends those public officers, who honoured its invitations promptly and submitted themselves for the exercise, among whom are: Anyim Pius Anyim – (former SGF), Abdulrahman Dambazau (Minister of Interior), Zainab Ahmed Shamsuna (Minister Budget & National Planning), Aisha Abubakar (Minister Trade, Investment & Industry (State) ); Prof Yakubu Mahmood ( INEC Chairman); Prof Julius A Okojie – Former (Executive Secretary NUC ) and Malam Adanu Adamu (Minister of Education).
“Also commended are Ekpendu Ezenwa Peter – Former (Controller General of Prisons), Semenitari Mary –Gab Tamunoibim (Ag. MD/CEO NDDC), Lt. Gen. Buratai Tukur Yusufu ( Chief of Army Staff),Rtd Col Ibrahim Ahamed Ali ( CG Customs), Ibrahim K Idris (Inspector General of Police), Boboye Oyeyemi (Corps Marshall FRSC); Amina Mohammed (Minister of Enviroment) and Hope Odhuluma Ikrirko (Fed Commissioner Civil Service Commission),”CCB’s statement read.
