The minister of power, works and housing Babatunde Fashola on Friday, June 2, said the federal government is set to provide 10,000 megawatts of electricity by 2019.
Fashola said FG's plan to provide such high level of electricity distribution across the country by 2019 is still achievable.
In a statement by the ministry of power, the minister said the 10,000 megawatts target could be realized despite challenges faced by the power sector.
Fashola said FG's plan to provide such high level of electricity distribution across the country by 2019 is still achievable
He also added that the ministry was putting measures in place to ensure that the power sector recovery programme is geared towards achieving FG's plans on increasing power supply, steady and uninterrupted power in Nigeria.
Fashola also noted that as at May 29, 2015, when the present administration took over leadership, the available power on the grid was 2,690 megawatts.
He however noted that the power on the grid has increased to 4,014 megawatts as at May 29, 2017.
He said the supply however experienced a dip in February 2016 after the power sector faced 16 consecutive attacks on gas pipeline.
This, Fashola said, crippled activities of major power supply in line like the Escravos Lagos pipeline which the minister said is still out.
