Hajj 2017: Kwara board announces payment DEADLINE

- The 2017 Hajj payment deadline has been announced for Muslim faithfuls who plan to make the pilgrimage

- The deadline was fixed for Friday, June 16, by the Kwara Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board

- Those who have completed payments have also been urged to submit their e-passports

On Sunday, June 11, the Kwara Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board announced that Friday, June 16, had been fixed as the deadline for the completion of payment of 2017 Hajj fare by all prospective pilgrims travelling through the board.

Alhaji Mohammed Tunde-Jimoh, the Executive Secretary of the board, announced this in llorin.

According to NAN, he also advised all intending pilgrims to pay up their balance on or before that date, or forfeit their seats, warning that there would be no extension of the deadline.

He explained that the deadline was necessary because of the directive from National Hajj Commission that all state Muslim pilgrims welfare boards should submit all travelling documents of their intending pilgrims.

The secretary also requested prospective pilgrims who had already completed payment of the fare, to submit their e-passport to the Board before June 16.

He expressed gratitude to the state government for its support to the Board towards ensuring hitch-free preparations for the Hajj.

Reports state that a total of 2,168 and 20 officials from the state are expected to perform the pilgrimage.

24reporters.com earlier reported that a rights group, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), reacted to reports that Shamsudeen Bala, the son of former FCT minister, was granted permission to travel for Hajj while he was on trial for alleged N1.2billion fraud.

Nigerians were on Wednesday, June 7, surprised by an Abuja Federal High Court that granted bail to Shamsudeen Bala, the fraud suspect. Bala was reportedly granted bail so that he could travel to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, 2017.
