- Iwuanyanwu says Buhari left south easterners out of his government and from the upper echelons of the various security parastatals
- He noted that the blow was being felt by the younger generation who feel cheated by the nation
- According to Iwuanyanwu, things will get worse if the government does not respond effectively to the situation
The reason why Igbos refused to give up their quest for Biafra has been disclosed by a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu.
According to Iwuanyanwu, the Buhari government has made matters worse by excluding Igbos from the scheme of things.
In a chat with Daily Sun, he said: "If any government in Nigeria has aggravated the Pro-Biafra agitation, it is this government.
"The government came in and was hostile to the South-East.
"You can see a whole kitchen cabinet, nobody from the south-east; The whole architecture of security- Police, Army, Navy- nobody from the south-east, so the people are feeling alienated and marginalized, particularly the younger generation.
"We have been using it for a long time now; But the younger generation did not see what they did wrong in the country.
"The government did not give them a sense of belonging, so they developed a sense of 'Let us go,' that's what IPOB is all about.
"It is a reaction to feeling of injustice and unless the government sees it as responding to the situation, it will only be aggravated."
Meanwhile, 24repoters.com has previously reported that the United States of America has spoken about Nigeria as the latter continues to struggle with agitations from the south-eastern part of the country for secession.
According to the US ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Stuart Symington, the foreign country and one of the world powers would continue to support Nigeria's unity.
Symington said his country will continue to work towards the promotion of unity in Nigeria.
