- They said the Chinese-owned companies treat them like slaves

- They alleged that their Nigerian managers also cheat them of their salaries

Some Nigerians working in a Chinese-owned have lamented that they are being treated like slaves while they also have to deal with delay of their salaries.

In an exclusive report to 24repoters.com  by one of the workers, he claimed the company Wempco which is located at Magboro, was not treating its workers well.

He alleged that sometimes, the workers are physically abused and have to work long hours without break.

According to the report, workers have been banned from going to use the toilet while on shift and called on the government to help look into the abuse so as to make it stop.

"Good day, Please I have got an information I and my fellow workers here at Wempco groups of company especially at Magboro branch want to speak out to the public and human rights

"Please here we need justification, how can you expect this so Chinese company pay 1027 naira for a whole 12hours and still yet they suffer us with the money by not paying on time and we are still expected to work on with empty stomach.

"It’s supposed to be on two weeks basis but it has been going to four weeks now This issue has kept on repeating itself for very long time, we can't just take it anymore but before our tolerance get out of calmness to violence, we need intervention from higher folds.

"Normally we heard and confirmed the money being payed to each casual worker is far more than 1027 naira but our Nigerian company manager are the ones gliding our sweats into their pockets. This is unfair... It's this same work that we do when we resume 7pm in the evening till 7am in the morning with no break and also where we can't try dose or sleep because we will be afraid for our pictures not to be taken for sacking purpose.

The Nigerians managers sometimes reduce workers' wages at the company Credit:

"Slapping, breaking of backbones, firing and punishing our Nigerian fellow worker for undue issue has become a pride to our Chinese masters; at times when we are sick and couldn't make it to work for a day, we will have to work for 3 days for free, 2 day not in work then we wait firing, throughout the week from Monday to Sunday we have to be at work with no rest throughout the year and no time to plan for our future or family.

"It's always all times in work with frustration with different principles, now the new principle is we cannot urinate while we are at work even though there are no toilet and health facilities and lots more. We think this is modern slavery of the highest order."
