- The Biafra Reformation Movement called for caution in the Anambra election
- The group said the enemy of the people may win if people boycott the election
- It recalled that Igbos are still suffering the effects of boycotting the last census
The Biafra Reformation Movement (BRM) has cautioned different groups calling for the boycott of the Anambra election saying this will not create a vacuum.
Vanguard reports that the group said the agitation for Biafra should not make the Igbos do the wrong thing saying the enemy of the people might end or winning the election in Anambra.
The group also warned that it can lead to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
Comrade Ndubuisi Igwekani who is the leader of BRM recalled that the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) had asked the people to boycott the last cnsus which Igbos are still paying for till now.
He said: "Most Igbo's were not counted, and our number continued to decrease. So we must be careful in our decisions and tactful in some actions, we ask our people to take, especially those that will not benefit them.
"Asking our people to boycott the election in Anambra may be an opportunity for an enemy to rule the state, and I do not see how beneficial it is to the Biafran struggle; rather it is against the interest of our people.
"The person championing that cause I am suspecting him just because, whether we boycott or not, will still hold elections and boycotting will not help us achieve Biafra rather we will be creating room for our enemies to come in.
"So we are saying that there must be an election in Anambra State; that boycotting the elections is not in the interest of the people. Everyone may not participate but let those who want to take part be allowed to exercise their fundamental human rights and chose who would rule them so that our territory will not be one to be hijacked by the enemy.
"Anyone saying there will not be elections in Anambra State is making a great mistake because there shall not be a vacuum. There will be election in Anambra come November 2017. "
24repoters.com earlier reported that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra insisted that will hold gubernatorial elections in the state contrary to the call by pro-Biafra groups that they would not.
Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) had called on the people to boycott the November election but Vanguard reports that the governor insisted this would be to the detriment of the people.
